Wrapping up the most intense semester of my life. Not even schoolwork wise, more emotional and personal growth. In the past few months, I’ve gone through some Bullshit. But what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
I’ve learned quite a lot about myself these past few months. I truly believe now that everything happens for a reason. As crappy as this past situation was, there were so many positives that have come out from it. I’ve learned that I am surrounded by incredible people who truly love and care for me, and without their advice and support, I honestly don’t know where I would be. I’ve learned that there are plenty of bigger and better fish in the sea. I’ve learned that I am truly an amazing person, the devotion that I have for my loved ones is unmistakably genuine. I have grown as a person. I know now that if I want something, I will strive for it. I have the courage to pursue my dreams, and for the things that I want in life. I am one tough cookie, and as many people have been saying to me lately, I’m “badass”. Don’t mess with me.
Yesterday, I found out that I got the position to be the Mindful Nutrition Lead for my club. I was filled with such happiness that I was in tears when I received the news. I was up against two other very strong candidates, but in the end, I was the strongest of them all. This position in my club is going to give me a first hand experience of exactly what I want to do for my career. I will be in charge of coordinating community outreach events on campus, as well as responsible for 6 other student volunteers to met their requirements. I will be behind the scenes of all the action, and I will be (partly) in charge. I am extremely excited, words cannot even describe. So this next semester will be extremely busy!!
Now onwards to what this blog is really about. How have I been doing on my weight loss goals? Well let’s just say, I am honestly sticking to “You can do anything that you set your mind to”. I have lost +/-35 pounds, and am feeling and looking great! Everyone that I know has noticed, and it feels so great. They all ask me, “How did you do it?”. Well, there is no secret. All I did was change the way I ate, and actually put in the time and commitment to workout.
Looking back at old pictures of myself, I cannot believe how much I had let myself go. I can’t believe how I did not take care of myself, and I know my one year anniversary with this blog is coming up, but ever since the summer time where I wrote out all my goals, I feel like I am finally reaching them! I have a very close friend who recently got certified as a personal trainer, so he will be helping me get to my ultimate goal, which to be honest, is not a number. I would just like to be completely comfortable with my body. As it has changed I have grown to love and appreciate it more. This upcoming winter break will be so much fun working out with him and pushing my body to the limit.
I know I can do it, because I know how much I want it.
Happy Holidays readers and always remember, eat mindfully and love yourself :).
This past weekend, walking has been my best friend :). On Friday when I got into my hometown, I wanted to go on a walk so my mom, brother and my dog went up the trail that we always walk and it felt great!! We got to watch the sunset through the hills and then got home and relaxed. I wish this trail was out here in San Jose! New mission: Find a nice trail in SJ!!
Sunday morning was also amazing!! One of my best friends, Claudia and I woke up early and we drove out to the Lafayette Reservoir and walked the trail all along the water! Beautiful scenery, deep conversation and great cardio!! Afterwards we went to the cutest little French cafe that I fell in love with!! We had these amazing flatbread pizzas with salmon, scrambled eggs and veggies! I want to go there everyday :)!!
Tonight I just finished up working on my arms! And yeah they feel like spaghetti! I need to make them nice! Strength training is super important!
Another reason why this weekend was so great: getting showered by compliments because my weight loss is noticeable :)!!! Go ME!!!!!!
So after I wrote my summer goals, I realized that I was going to a conference the following week so I couldn’t really begin my summer goals.
Quick conference summary-So I was selected to go to the annual ACHA Conference in Phoenix, Arizona all expenses paid!! I didn’t know what to expect when I arrived, but I was so impressed by this conference. It was full of health professionals from surgeons and physicians to health educators and professors from universities all over the U.S! I was able to met some professionals, but made friends with many students from across the U.S! I made friends in Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, Massachusetts, Florida, Oregon, Illinois Iowa, Wisconsin and many more!! I feel so lucky to have been able to go to this conference because I am now filled with ideas of how to reach out to more students through our peer health educators! Long story short, it was a blast and I miss it and I really Really REALLY want to go to next’s conference in CHICAGO!!!
Anyways, I walked around Phoenix, but I honestly was on vacation mode that I didn’t even think about working out….
I got back Saturday night and Sunday morning, I woke up and went to a 2.5 mile run/walk with the best roomie ever Lady G :)! It felt so good to get up there and she is such a great motivator! I was on the verge of giving up and she kept telling me to keep going…she’s so awesome!! Here are my Nike+ results:

It felt so nice to see those numbers! I’m back on it everyone :)! After our cardio, we came back to the apartment and worked on a circuit that worked out buns, thighs and abs. After we finished working out we cooked up a delicious late lunch/early dinner! We made spaghetti, garlic bread and asparagus and zucchini! It was so delicious!! Yesterday I felt the soreness from working out the day before! It felt so good to be sore!! Today I am ready for round 2….Bring it on summer!!!!!
Talk about trying to make a come back! WTH?! I didn’t realize how busy finals would keep me! And the cherry to this finals sundae is that I got sick on Wednesday and am still sick! I haven’t been able to workout :( . Luckily tomorrow is my last final and I already have the study guide done for it so I am determined to at least do 30 minutes of cardio today! Maybe I can sweat out this cold!! Wish me luck everyone!
My poor running shoes suffered a traumatic experience last week, and thus were forced into retirement early :(. You will be missed old Nike Pegasus, but as they say “There are plenty of running shoes in the sea” or something like that LOL!
This weekend I bought brand new running shoes that I absoulty LOVE!!!!! My Nike Free’s (and yes they still have Nike+)

This morning I wanted to break them in by running errands all around downtown and realized that they didn’t even really need to be broken in because they are so “free” I love it. Free :)
After a day full of classes and NEAT I finally got home and the roomies wanted to go on a bike ride since the gym at school is crazily full. Seriously, there were waitlists for every single machine! Are you kidding me?? So instead we went on a nice bike ride around the area making me love my bike more and more :).
Last note, I was in my night class waiting for the professor (who apparently make this particular class harder than it should be even though it’s an intro class) and I was pleasantly surprised that another professor is teaching our class!!!!! My friend and I were giggly with joy!!! This professor is so funny and easygoing that it will make this class a little more tolerable and a little less stressful!! WOO HOO!!!!!
Friday night, I went to my first Bike Party!!! We rode 27 miles through San Jose, Santa Clara & Milpitas and started at 8pm. There were 3 major stops everyone would stop and they were full of all kinds of people that so into “Bike Paaartyyy!” All kinds of ages and all kinds of biking levels. There were a bunch of people doing “extracurricular activities” while biking (under the influence), but there were many who just wanted to join this huge group for a ride through the Silicone Valley. I met some cool people during the ride and am so excited for the next one!! They hold these bike parties once a month and thousands of people come out and ride at night. People even sit outside their houses to cheer on the fellow bike party-ers LOL!! It was a great experience and am so looking forward to the next one :).
The next day I was more sore from my booty than my thighs, although on the ride my thighs were burning!! It was worth it though!
Monday I did my Nike Trainer App and boy did it kick my ass! I was so sore yesterday just from that! But sore in a good way :)
Yesterday I went on a walk with my roommate who just came back from sunny San Diego :)! We were catching up and bonding. I love how she is super athletic and so interested in nutrition!! She made me this veggie smoothie with spinach, orange juice and other fruits and it was so bomb!!! Nutritious and delicious!!
Today was the first day of classes and it was nice to see people from my department. I am taking a class called nutrition for sport and am so excited to learn about being active & athletic and having a nutritious diet as well as learning about all these supplements that athletes take!! It’s going to be a great semester. Extremely busy, but that’s a good thing :).
Eat mindfully and love yourself :)
I got off work early today and had this energy and urge to RUN! It felt so freeing just to keep running. After today, I feel like my stamina has increased :) I also wore my medium Nike dri-fit shirt for my run! It felt so good to finally fit into it! WOO! Go ME! Here are my Nike+ restults:
Awesome! I really do need to find a new place to run though..I always go down into this park and for some reason…every time I go there-there are creepers all over the place! Ugh!! I just want to run, leave me alone please, THANK YOU! Also, those damn traffic lights always slow me down!!!! (The downside of living in downtown!)
Lady Gaga’s new album is amazing to workout to!! All the songs are upbeat and motivating!!!
“I’m on the right track baby, I was born this way!”
You may all be wondering, “hey what happened to that one girl?” or maybe not.
Anyway, this has been a very emotional summer. I was in El Salvador for a month because my grandpa was sick, luckily he is now okay. Next, there is no more boyfriend in the picture and that’s all I will say about that.
Now, looking back at the summer goals, I have done quite well. I am now down to 175lbs!! I have really re-evaluated my eating habits and have greatly changed them. I also have tons more free time so I have been biking and running outside, enjoying what’s left of summer.
Now it is the time to focus on myself and that is exactly what I will be doing. My new goal is to be down to 150 by Christmas, which I am most confident that I will reach and hopefully surpass :)!!!
I cannot wait for the semester to begin! NEAT is going to be having so many great events and my classes are going to be a little more challenging, but bring it on. I’m ready!! You know why? Because I am a strong, beautiful and confidant woman :) !!
Finals are done and now I can relax and enjoy my summer!! SUMMER!!! I have been waiting so long for summer time!! The weather has been so bipolar over here though, it will be 70 degrees one day, then grey and gloomy the next day, and then hot the next!! Well anyways, yesterday after I worked out doing this simple, but ass kicking workout, (check it out on this link: http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/26zk0A/fitbie.msn.com/workout/print/4970 , since I just started back up again, I was only going to do 2 sets, but I pushed myself to do 3 and then I felt like throwing up! ) I was sitting on Stefan’s couch and he asked me “What is your goal?” and I was like “Whaaaa, to be healthier duh.” and he was like “What else? What’s your workout goal?” And I couldn’t answer him right then and there, so I started thinking about it and brainstorming as to what I want my workout goals to be.
Here is my brainstorming (I just typed everything that I was thinking):
-Eat healthier
-Be more active
*How do you accomplish these goals?
· Stop eating out!
· No more soda
· Get off the couch
Today I did the 5 circuit routine. I was able to do 3 sets of it. Now I feel like throwing up.
My goal is to do this everyday (but at least 3x’s a week).
I would like to get 60 minutes of cardio at least 4x’s a week via walking, biking, running, playing tennis, hiking, dancing, swimming or other recreational activities.
Weight Goal: Lose 20lbs by August 25th, 2011.
Started At: 195 lbs
Current Weight Started At: 190lbs
Weight Goal: 170lbs
· Ultimate Weight Goal: 130 LBS
Drink more water! Drink more tea!
Since you will be working everyday of the week, this gives you a chance to bring food from home for lunch, do NOT eat out for lunch!
IDEAS:
· Salads
· Sandwiches
· Soup
· Beans
· Leftovers
Anyone have any other ideas?? I know that this is do-able, I just need to push myself even more than I have ever had. This is the reason I made this blog!!!
Hello everyone! I haven’t written in here in forever. What a crazy and hectic month it has been for me filled with stress, homework and drama UGH!
So we are now into the last official week of school, with next Tuesday being the last day of class! I have had wonderful classes, but I can NOT wait for summer time :)!!
A few updates for you all. First off, I am officially living with Lady G and Lou :). Can I just saw that I am finally comfortable with my living situation!!! We all get along great! And the best part….they LOVE to workout!!!! So they give me motivation to get my butt active once again. Second, I feel like a such a failure because with all this stress and work I have hardly had anytime to workout :l . This is all going to change today (*Update, I started on Tuesday!) :) New Month, New Week, Let’s do THIS! Third, I hate moving so much!!! It’s so stressful!!!!!!!!!!! And it doesn’t help that you are not on good terms with your previous roommate. Shit happened, and I done dealing with it, so my new motto right now “Live in the NOW!”
Alright, enough of that. My mother’s wedding was amazing. Below is a pic of her and I:
She’s so beautiful <3 I love my mom so much :)!!!
This was my $24 dress and yeah I rocked it! Summer time is coming up and I would like to be as active as I can!! All I’m doing this summer is working! Oh yeah and I’m going to Phoenix in a couple of weeks!! Free air and board!! I can’t wait! I’m gonna call this summer…”Let’s Get Sexy” Summer 2011!!!!!!!!
Thank you all for being so patient. I appreciate all of you :). And always remember to Eat Mindfully & Love Yourself!!!!
